HUNT REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS for Exhibitors
Congratulations on choosing to participate in the hunt. This is a way that you will be able to increase the traffic to your booth, as well as fostering good will with convention visitors. You will find that it is very easy to participate in the hunt this year, and that you will have a lot of control over the data for your booth.
Just follow these easy steps:
1- Decide what your hunt prize will be. We strongly recommend against giving out gestures, junk gifts or those “freebies” that are readily available on the marketplace. Make the gift something desirable so that people will want to spend time at your booth hunting for it. If you give something that is gender-specific, please be sure to give something for both genders. i.e., if your prize is a woman’s dress, please also include something for the men in the prize packet.
2- Decide if you want to give any other data along with your hunt prize. You may want to include a landmark to your SIM or shop, and a notecard telling a little about your organization or store. You may want to include an image of your prize. You may want to include instructions on how someone joins your group. (You don’t have to include any of those things along with the prize, but we recommend that you use the prize dispenser as an opportunity to convey information about your store or organization.)
3- Decide where in your booth you want to “hide” the hunt prize. I recommend that you put it where people will need to look around the booth to find it, but not so difficult to find that they get frustrated and give up. There are a few no-nos – you can’t conceal it inside of another prim so that it is partially covered, though you may place it inside a hollow object as long as it is easily visible via pancam. You cannot modify it so that it gives the prize to some people but not to others, it must be available for everyone to take. Also, you cannot make it invisible or resize it to be tiny.
4- Once you know where you want to hide it, then come up with a short hint. The trick here is balance. Try not to be too obvious and try not to be too cryptic. For example, pretend you have a flower pot of roses in your display and you decide to hide it behind the flower pot. An appropriate hint might be something like “A rose by any other name smells just as sweet.” Again, pls try to keep the hints short, usually a max of 10-12 words is good.
5- The next step is to submit this form to let everyone know what your hint is:
We’ll be sending out Hunt Packages very soon with everything you’ll need to set up your Hunt. If you need to make a change to your entry down the line, or have any other questions, please contact either richmerk or Debbydo in world, or again, leave a message here in the feedback and the web monkeys will ensure it gets forwarded along!
