Mad Fun with MadPea Rewind and Play Arcade Toys

Original post @ MadPea.
Have you been to The Arcade yet? Time is running out! As you may (should!) know, The Arcade only happens September, December, March, and June. Your chances this month to score the complete set of offerings from MadPea are getting slimmer every day.

And what an awesome collection it is! MadPea’s interactive Rewind and Play toys are absolutely awesome. I had so much fun playing today. The Crazy Jack had me in stitches! You never know what he’s going to say the next time he pops out. I loved seeing if Sniffy would try to eat the rare Zerbert 2000. Thankfully, he didn’t although he did lift his leg . . .

Just for the record, 8 was not my high score on the Rosetta. If it weren’t for certain Peas needing an LM to the absolutely necessary Gacha Galley (the Arcade’s official off-sim shopping location), I would have done much better. This game is absolutely addictive and will remain on my table until I break it.

Who could resist jammin’ out with the Thunder Chord?! Nobody!! It comes with a rezzable version with a stand and plays a bunch of different tunes with animations. I am a rock legend on my own sim!

The official MadPea Rewind & Play Arcade poster shows all that is available. At only 75L per try, you can’t afford NOT to get the whole set. If I haven’t already smacked you on the booty with my Sticky Fingers, then I just haven’t seen you yet.

Flea Market Finds – Arcade

Original post @ Chic at Phil’s Place.

Nostalgia. If you are in the younger crowd, you may have never been to a fondue party. You are missing something — cholesterol for one thing, but back in the early 70s we didn’t think about that. Heavens, we may not have even known to worry about it :D.

Out for The Arcade from Second Spaces, a big collection of accessories that will bring back some fond memories.

These pieces mix nicely with my personal retro collection, many of them Second Spaces releases.  Here music memorabilia join in film canisters next to the vintage (working) television. It’s all in the details.

I had to smile when I looked closely at these old time patterns. Back then a 34 bust was a size 16!  Oh my.  You can check out the whole collection by going to the catalog on The Arcade website.

Have fun!

It’s Arcade Time

Original post @ Chic at Phil’s Place.

It is almost September and that means a new round of The Arcade!  While I am not a gambler at heart, last round I discovered the garage sales which I definitely enjoy so feel free to crank that handle as much as you want. I may be waiting to buy your extras!

With lots of great things coming your way, this is my sneak peak at the event. I have no idea what the official theme is or even if there is a theme, but it seems to have a retro vibe from the things I have seen so far.

Hence I dressed up in a very vintage swimsuit, just out from 20.Five, the Beau Bikini set (which by the way coordinates with the other new swimwear). Color choices by hud of course.

The star of this Arcade preview is the {theosophy} For Future Reference set. The machines are so inventive and fun, making me smile big time after a difficult day pounding on my computer. The Zultor’s Wisdom booth gives fortunes you wear on your screen to see. There is appropriate music and flashing red eyes. You can almost hear the carnival or boardwalk in the background.

The testers also play music with lights flashing through the choices and  — finally, landing on “the answer” :D. Really you need to see these.

Now as much as I LOVED LOVED LOVED these, I couldn’t really think where I could put them (chuckle). I finally decided that they would be appropriate discarded clutter in the alleyway next to the warehouse gym. When I was processing this photo I hit the vibrancy slider a bit too far and ended up with black and white — which seemed, PERFECT.

If you just can’t wait until you make it into the event, feel free to come by and play (and take some photos of course). Here is the spot.

Hair: Girls on Film1 by Vanity Hair

Poses by: the {what next} balloons found hiding deep within my closet

Arcade Junk

Original post @ Gacha Junky.

The Arcade is two years old this round. I have to admit, after 2 years playing the Arcade, I am not the same player I used to be.One of the big differences is that I have developed very clear favorites with regard to creators. One of those is the brand Junk. They have a very bohemian sensibility which appeals to the deadhead in me, with the added swank of my favorite era, the 1950’s. Unique, chic and always a little weathered, Junk is always a go to machine. This round they offer “One Man’s Junk” which they described as being little bits of what you might find at a flea market. All I can say is this is one very cool flea market! The pipe phone is really cool and the daybed animations are new and different. The fan RARE is super sweet, you can fill it with your own pictures. Other items featured here you can find in the Junk store.
DRD did a pole on their Facebook page about this machine. Jaimy asked what people would like to see and GEEKS prevailed! Here she has taken gaming to the next level and turned it into a bunch of wearable stuff. I put on my personal favorites for the shot below. Make sure to read all of the little pins and the details on the tablet screen. They are pretty funny. Both of these machines can be found at the Arcade opening September 1st on their brand new region The Arcade or cam shop from their homestead Gacha Galley.

Viva La Arcade!

Original post @ The Misadventures of Shady Ami & Redd.
So it is that time again!  The Arcade has struck the group of us like a bunch of kids.

This time around the theme seems to be gravitating towards the summer – sun, surf and other activities that require gobs of sunscreen, mosquito repellant or a cool beer.
For the first few days, we were unable to get into the Arcade – the sim was full!  Ami and I were so anxious to get in!!  We tried to busy ourselves with other activities, like garden cleaning, outfit making, inventory cleanup, but by day 3, Ami was like, “If I don’t get into the arcade tonight, I’m gonna cut a bitch!”
For those not in the know, the Arcade is held on a homestead, instead of a full sim.  A homestead has when it is full can hold up to 33 people.
This is a mixed blessing. For those of us who were able to get in, it gives the shoppers a more intimate shopping experience, giving us room to move.  It also gives us the time we need to look at what we’re buying and not have to worry about swarms of people using the same gatcha and possibly overloading it.
The bad side is…you may get a lot of rejection – this sim is full and so on.  Or you end up like Ami, in a frothy rage by the time you get there.
This song seems to sum up the situation:

Once you get in, you get to see the Arcade in its full glory.

I was so excited to get in, I forgot shoes!!!

Archie – the spokesperson for the Arcade, dons a summer look!
When we eventually got in (we all went out separately), we all were giddy with anticipation.  One of the cool things about the Arcade are the different avatars that you can see:

Here’s a view of the interior of the Arcade.

Watch out – Grandma has the munchies!!!

I never had the ability to skateboard…so seeing a bear doing it makes me kind of jealous.

So –  what did we buy???

Here Petal and I are modelling off the MUST HAVE item from the fair – a headdress from Tee*fy!  Our outfits are from Lua’s.
Ami’s in her Wasabi Pills Hair.  They had 2 sizes – One for small and one large.  For 50L, this was a steal!
Teacup piglets!!! They are my favorites!  Look at all of them!!!  They are from !OhMai.  The surfboards are an item from Tabloid.
You know how much I LOVE plushies.  These cuties are from Intrigue, Co.

There are plenty of treasures for you to find at the Arcade, and if you join their group, you can trade your items too!

Here’s your ride! The Arcade SLURL

March Arcade Review

Original post @ Gacha Junky.

This March Arcade is all about spring and for those of us suffering in some harsh real life winter climates, it has been a welcome escape. Machines like 8f8, Lark and Pixel Mode will have you playing for complete sets. The great news is, the machines this round, over all, play wonderfully. The rate to which rares come out is not that frustrating. Everyone involved in gacha knows by now that people play a machine for what they want out of it. It looks like many of the Arcade creators have realized a reasonable rare setting is good for everyone. Getting those extra thousand plus linden out of a player by making the rare rate too low just makes people fee ripped off. Setting a machine right can be the difference between rabidly loyal fans and luke warm fans who dread wanting anything from a machine that a particular creator has made. That being said, this March Arcade has been totally pleasurable. I walked away very happy from most machines with out too much excess plus rares to barter with.
I was not keen on the “coupon” rares that some creators adopted this round. It caused a lot of confusion and in the end you were left with a no trans item. Losing the freedom to try something on, or use it for a picture or for some length of time, then not have the option to trade it was lost on me. Especially for machines that are also set very difficult in the first place. In the end, trans coupon or not, the final product was a no trans item and that I felt skirted the rules a bit. Trust me, you dont need any gimmicks to get gacha junkies to spend linden or keep them from reselling something. If the item is fantastic, they will shell out more than they should and wont be giving it up.

Learning to Decorate with The Arcade – The Happy Bath Time

Original post @ Playing Paper Dolls.

Learning to Decorate with The Arcade - The Happy Bath Time

I know that The Arcade September Round is coming to and end, but I promised 4 guides and I always keep my word. This 4th phase of the Learning to Decorate with the Arcade is called Take your time for 2 different reasons. The first one is that Home and Decor shots take longer that fashion shots, at least for me, maybe just because I am used to do fashion for years and stylings and pictures don’t take too long for me anymore. But for Decor I do not only need to work on the styling and credits, I also need to focus on building the set, finding appropriate poses for the furniture I want to shot and the do all the photoshop post-processing I am so terrible at. It takes a lot of time, but it is also a lot more fun that just styling and posing for fashion shots. My suggestion is don’t hurry, take your time and enjoy what you are doing. Someone taught me long ago that when you love what you do, it shows.

The Happy Bath - Details

The second reason is that after going crazy at these machines and getting so many amazing items, im my opinion, you also need to take some time for yourself. Relax, open every single box with care and take time to check all the little details. I believe that sometimes, on the rush, we don’t really take enough time to truly acknowledge all the hard work behind the goodies we just got, and sometimes it’s hard for us to reckon the value of items when they are low priced, and that, my friends, it’s a big error in this case, because the quality of the items on this event is absolutely astonishing and deserves to be recognized.

The Arcade - Plushie Pals
Intrigue Co. – Plushie Pals: Puppy Pals Set by Katharine McGinnis (50L$ to play)

I must confess I feel sad that I didn’t have the chance to blog many other items I acquired this time, again, but I am sure I will be able to add them on future blog posts. That’s the reason I always include designer names on credits, so when an event is over, you can always try and visit the designer mainstore and check if they placed their gacha machines there (many of them do). The Arcade Organization even worked out a google spreadsheet with the different stores and gacha locations on their website, which makes our life so much easier.

The Arcade - Apple Fall
{Apple Fall} Pour Homme Set (75L$ to play) available @ The Arcade September Round

And if you can’t find a certain item do not worry there is a last option. The Arcade – Gacha Events is a open group (with some rules) for trading items from The Arcade Events, and it is true that during the round they mainly trade the current round items but when it’s over the groups goes CRAZY, crazy I am telling you, and people trade items from previous events as well. So if you are a Arcade lover and would like to get any of the items from previous rounds, just join this group and get ready to join the mad house of collectors, you won’t regret it.
Now waiting for December Round *giggles* Oh wait, almost forgot … Credits! … sighs …
