POE5 Peace On Earth Gridwide Hunt concludes…

Blush Skins POE HUNT December 2012~Peace on Earth-Mimmi Boa

My very dear sl sister and friend, Mimmi Boa, is the featured model in the very last designer post from my event POE5. Here beautifully elegant Mimmi is showcasing the lovely skin gift from Blush Skins as photographed by the gifted Skip Staheli. This exquisite gift from Blush is a fine example of the many beautiful and fabulous gifts that were offered during the Peace On Earth hunt by nearly 200 of Second Life’s most generous and creative designers.

It seems fitting to end this year with a post featuring Mimmi because she graced the very first poster for the POE back in November of 2008, just a month before she would be crowned Miss Virtual World 2009, so is a nice way for me to bring these 5 years full circle. That is Mimmi, 4th from the left, representing Italy in the first photoshoot for Peace On Earth hunt.

08-11-12 Peace on Earth

A lot has changed about SL since those days and there are usually at least two dozen hunts a month now. POE has to compete with all sort of events for attention, but still we manage to rise to the occassion and all because of some extremely generous, talented, and caring people understand the importance of giving back to their community.» Full Blog Post Here…

POE5 – The Tradition Continues…

Reblogged from Kyng Johin from October 1, 2012

POE5 Official Poster [New and Improved!]

There is a beehive of activity at Sequoia Nightfire’s place. For the fifth year, Sequoia is stirring up her holiday magic to bring together the largest grid-wide hunt of the year, the Peace on Earth Hunt (POE5), which begins December 1.

Every year, I look for a notice from Sequoia saying that she has had enough, she is worn out, and she can’t do it anymore. But, like “The Little Engine that Could,” she just keeps right on chugging along.

And every year, the hunt gets bigger. Sequoia tries to keep the number around a manageable 200. Last year, she had twice that many applications. Obviously, many people were disappointed. I was disappointed when some of my favorites from previous years did not make the final list.

Because of this heavy demand to participate, Sequoia is making this year’s hunt “by invitation only.” She and her crew are scouring the grid, looking for unique stores of quality designs (General and Moderate only), and checking the status of stores from previous POE hunts.

But Sequoia has a strict guideline for choosing stores for the hunt. You gotta be the best, or be different, or be amazing.

Princess of the Serengeti

Sequoia has chosen the brilliant colours of the Serengeti outfit and turban by Tres Beau to close out her african continental experience. The mesh harmem pants have a wonderful hip hugging fit and the disc hoop earrings and bracelet set is a spot on match to the flow of vivid hues and patterns of the turban to the top to the pants bringing a beautiful balance and exposure of skin. Masai Mara – Tres Beau

Monarch of all she surveys

Starline Igeria’s MASAI MARA: The Solidarity Store has some exciting surprises to share, all with the specific purpose of benefiting children of Kenya. All benefits from the store go to the KIBERA YOUTH INITIATIVE – MAMA TUNZA PROJECT which provides a home for about 200 children, most of whom are orphans of HIV/AIDS or come from single parent homes.

Monarch of all She Surveys

Many of SL’s finest designers have responded to this challenge with both generosity and creative vision. Kimmera Madison Fall of Tres Beau has created an exclusive gown named Jaguar, for this event, which is truly worthy of African Monarchy. Drawing influence from the feline grace of the jaguar and the traditional wrap lines of formal African regional attire, this gown is both fierce and alurring in its use of fabrics and animal prints.

Monarch of all she surveys

Sleek lines and detailed stictching embrace the shared world order of the preditory cat, as rosettes of the Jaguar are set against spots of the Leopard, it’s African cousin. The gown is appropriately named Jaguar, although a South American cat, the jaguar is a common symbol of strength and power much as the leopard. There is a spiritual connection between them and thus a continental and universal appeal that will fill you with a sense of control of all you survey.» Full Blog Post Here…
