Today, at 10am, the fantastic weekend of events that marks the climax of the 2014 season starts.

Relay For Life is the signature event of the American Cancer Society and has been active, and continually growing, now in Second Life for 10 years.

  • In 2005, the first Relay For Life of Second Life (RFL of SL) was attended by a few hundred avatars and raised almost $ 5,000 US dollars for the American Cancer Society.
  • In 2009 the Relay For Life of Second Life raised over $ 270,000. US dollars and was attended by thousands of avatars.
  • In 2011 the Relay For Life of Second Life raised over US$ 375,000 and ran right past the US$ 1,000,000 mark during the 2011 campaign!
  • In 2012 the Relay For Life of Second Life raised over US$ 375,000, taking the total raised since 2005 to over US$ 1,600,000 by the end of our 2012 fundraising season.
  • And in 2013, Relay for Life of Second Life, in a thrilling climax to the Relay weekend, crossed the 2,000,000 mark!

This year the plan is to raise US$ 401,000 – i.e. 401K. That figure represents a huge task – we started the weekend at 382,000.  The significance of the number is that 401 is the tax form that mark retirement in the United States – the plan is to RETIRE CANCER!

The American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life is a life-changing event that gives everyone in communities across the globe (and in Second Life) a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, to remember loved ones lost, and to fight back against the disease.

Relay Weekend  is a fun-filled, overnight event that unites SL individuals throughout the world to celebrate survivors (anyone who has ever been diagnosed with cancer), remember loved ones and raise money for the fight against cancer.

And the TV channels of Second Life are coming together to produce a twenty-four telethon to cover this event, which you can watch on slartist.com.

  • The Telethon is covering the 24 hours of Relay. Live coverage is from 9am – 10pm (including the Luminaria ceremony at 9pm) on Saturday 19th, and from 6.00am till 11am on Sunday 20th, plus  on Saturday.
  • During that time, we’ll bring you news of the Relay from our studio – with information about all the events that are going on, together with trackside interviews with teams and sim designers.
  • And when we’re not live, we’ll be showing interviews with Chairs from the RFL Committee, classic clips from RFL history, and TV shows from Treet TV that have featured Relay for Life.

Season 2 of The Blackened Mirror begins today!

Original post @ The Blackened Mirror.

Season Two of The Blackened Mirror launches today, Sunday 1st December, at 2pm PST/SLT, 10pm GMT and 5pm EST.

Having left our heroes surrounded in their enemies’ lair at the the end of Season One, The Blackened Mirror returns with news of their fate. The season premiere finds private investigator Harland Quinn suffering the consequences of his earlier bravado and wondering not only what is to become of him, but also what has become of his companions, the enigmatic Alais Alleyn and her redoubtable factotum Mister Biggins.

Quinn faces up to his past - and his present

Quinn faces up to his past – and his present

This animated series, created in a virtual world, brings together elements of film noir, steampunk, classic Lovecraftian horror – and more in a standalone ten-minute show.

The first season took Quinn from his seedy office in 1930s America to a history that never was, and on to strange worlds as he awoke trouble from his past; trouble that hit him at home, trouble that forced him to face the evils of his youth. The means was Miss Alleyn’s: a strange device known as a Resonator that turns any mirror into a door across dimensions, enabling the possessor to travel wherever they may wish to go, leaving no more than scorched glass to mark their passing.

Mr Biggins discovers a Laboratory

In season two we discover more of Quinn’s dark past and the origins of his chilling doppelganger, learn what becomes of the friends he left behind in Seraph City and see the price that comes with secret knowledge, leaving one of our heroes with a terrible choice that must be made…

Find out what happens next in Season Two of The Blackened Mirror!

If you are in Second Life, you can join us to watch and discuss the show at The Crescent Theater in Seraph City, The Designing Worlds studio on Garden of Dreams or at the Prim Perfect Head Offices on Pointe LaRue Isle.

You can also see the show on the web on the Treet.TV Blackened Mirror Channel, on The Blackened Mirror channel at Aview TV, on The Blackened Mirror YouTube Channel. It will also be shown live on Metaverse Week in Review!

Afterwards, there will be dancing and discussion at the Seraph Club in Seraph City, Second Life – and everyone is very welcome to join us!

I’ll just stay home today.

Original post @ Playing Paper Dolls.

Today is one of those lazy days when I don’t want to do anything at all. I don’t want to go shop for groceries. I don’t want to cook for lunch…I just want to stay at home and sort all my amazing items from The Arcade gatcha event that flood my inventory.

The Arcade - Pink Fuel
I have already set up a lot of their items at home, I must confess I am the worst interior designer on the grid, It just amazes me when I look at the works of talented people like Editorial Clarity who make true homes out of simple prims. I just drop everything aorund and look at how beautiful things are , and how terrible they look together at my house … but yesterday I made and effort and managed to put a few things  together in hope I could make a beautiful picture out of them.

The Arcade - Lazy Day

In the picture we can see items from 9 different designers @ The Arcade. If you just want a teleport right now, this is the direct teleport to “The Arcade“. *waves goodbye* But for your shopping pleasure I will give you detailed information to each of them and also the direct teleport to each one of the gatcha machines.

Extremely beautiful skin from Pink Fuel, soft makeup and slightly freckled.
Only 100L$  each, run for your lives!!!

Aria Teacup Planters, only 25L$ to play. 24 different designs.
Vespertine Fabric Birds, 50L$ to play, 20 diferent, icnluding rare cages.
These mesh pants I am wearing are from Emery gatcha machine, 75L$ to play and you can win 8 different color pants and 8 different colour short shirts. The texures are amazing!.
My absolutely cute flaties are a desing from BBC and called Emma apple flat shoes, they are mesh and it costs only 75L$ to play. You also have a chance to win the rare apple clutch… so kyoooot!!
On the back you can see a combination of crates creating shelves that I used in combination with the birds and the plants, and also another crate full of books, both made by Charlotte Bartlett from Scarlet Creative.
The set includes many recycled items, such as a domino I am still trying to get from the damn machine!!! OK its only 50L$ to play, but I am about to scream already!

Hanging from the shelves you can see this stylish mesh pochette from :pesca:, in many beautiful patterns, a total of 20, and only 50L$ to play.
Schadenfreude is also participating in this amazing gatcha event with these “Dress Forms”, only 50L$ to win and each of them includes 4 diferent wood textures for the base, which you can also hide.
Last but not least, this perfectly made typewriter by Floorplan which includes a menu so you can change what is written on the paper from bonjour to ahoy and 7 more. Only 50L$ to play
